Leave a request

Scope of our help

  • Compiling documents.
  • Preparing and submitting an application for Polish citizenship.

Two main paths to citizenship

  • Recognition as a Polish citizen — the decision is issued by the voivode if you meet the statutory conditions, including those concerning the period of legal residence in Poland.
  • Granting of citizenship by the President of the Republic of Poland — regardless of the period of residence, but the decision is discretionary.

The most common grounds for recognition

  • At least 3 years of uninterrupted residence on the basis of a permanent residence permit or an EU long-term resident permit, a stable source of income and a legal title to accommodation.
  • At least 2 years of uninterrupted residence on the basis of a permanent residence permit and marriage to a Polish citizen lasting at least 3 years.
  • A permanent residence permit obtained in connection with Polish origin or holding a Karta Polaka — on special terms.

Knowledge of the Polish language

Recognition as a citizen requires confirmation of knowledge of the Polish language at least at B1 level — with a state certificate or a certificate or diploma from a Polish school or university. Note: certificates of completion of a post-secondary school (szkoła policealna) issued from 30.06.2026 do not confirm knowledge of the Polish language.

Official fees

  • Application for recognition as a Polish citizen — 1000 zł.
  • Application for the granting of citizenship by the President of the Republic of Poland — 1669 zł.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to renounce my current citizenship?

Polish law does not require it. However, it is worth checking the law of your country — some states do not allow dual citizenship.

Recognition or granting — which to choose?

If you meet the conditions for recognition, this is usually the more predictable path. Granting by the President of the Republic of Poland does not require a specific period of residence, but the decision is discretionary. We will analyse your situation and advise you.

Can children obtain citizenship together with a parent?

Yes, recognition or granting may also cover minor children. A child who has reached the age of 16 must give their consent.

How long does it take to obtain citizenship?

The time depends on the path and the office — in practice at least several months. A complete application and documents confirming each condition help avoid requests (wezwania) and delays.
